Go on a Voyage of Discovery in Egypt - The Places You Must See

By Steve Alexander

From the grandiose sites to those off the beaten track, Egypt is a never ending adventure of history, architecture, culture and fun. The discovery never ends here with newly uncovered tombs or pyramids being uncovered all the time whilst the vibrant culture itself shifts and moves with the times, yet always remaining true to its roots.

The Pyramids of Giza are considered one of the greatest architectural feats by man, and are the last of the 7 wonders of the ancient world still standing. They are the biggest and most famous sight of all and a great place to start your all inclusive holidays to Egypt.

Built 4,600 years ago, this phenomenal sight is one of the main reasons holidaymakers visit Egypt. Such is its pulling power that there are many tours and guides who will take you around the three main pyramids, each a tomb to a King of Egypt. For a truly authentic experience, book one of the guided camel rides around the pyramids.

The Valley of the Kings is often dubbed the greatest outdoor museum in the world, situated in the Theban Hills near Luxor. The area signifies an important change in Egyptian history when they moved away from pyramid tombs to instead tombs dug within limestone. It is home to a variety of tombs and chambers in a range of sizes and styles.

The Nile is the longest river in the world at 6650km and you can't travel all the way to Egypt without a river boat cruise on it. A traditional white sailed vessel known as a Felucca will take you down this magnificent river - one of the most beautiful sails is a sunset trip from Cairo or Alexandria. There are longer cruises if you so wish though. You'll pass stunning sights and towns on the gentle ride of the felluca, which is sure to be a once in a lifetime experience.
