Keep Solar Blankets On Hand For An Emergency Situation

By Eric Holm

When faced with a disaster of any kind, people need to get back to basics as quickly as possible. Anyone who has been injured must receive the proper first aid or transported to a medical facility for professional help. Everyone else should think about what they will do to make sure they have adequate shelter, food, water and clothing. Preparing a disaster kit ahead of time makes it easier to deal with a crisis and increases your chances of survival. Sometimes it is possible to stay in the home but there are other times when an unexpected occurrence forces people to seek shelter elsewhere. Human beings have many basic needs and sleep is just one of them. Air mattresses, a canopy and some solar blankets are items that can be used to meet these basic needs. A solar blanket offers protection from cold temperatures and windy conditions. On a hot day it can be placed in a car window to deflect the sun's rays. Preparing an emergency kit with the necessary items is something everyone should do.

An emergency cot is portable and offers a more comfortable place to sleep when the ground is wet. Air mattresses are constructed with durable PVC material and will fold up into a small package when deflated. These are ideal for travel and can be easily packed in any car, SUV or recreational vehicle. In an emergency, they provide a comfortable place to get some much needed rest. Small, portable air pumps make these items easy to set up in just a few minutes. Travel pillows are lightweight and come in handy while camping. They may be used to comfortably elevate the head of an injured person. A folding canopy is lightweight and sets up quickly. Tie downs are included for greater stability when the weather is windy. The material used to manufacture these items is treated to block UV rays and shed water. Most are also fire resistant for additional safety. Canopies may be used to shelter an emergency bed or to provide privacy for an outdoor shower.

Most of the emergency preparedness supplies available for sleeping and shelter can easily be folded, deflated and stored even in any small or restricted space. While preparing your emergency gear, make sure to provide all the necessary supplies which you may need to take shelter. You never know when you will need emergency sleeping and shelter gear.

Often solar blankets, flashlights and rain gear will form the basic supplies of your emergency shelter and sleeping gear. Adding advanced products like pop-up canopies, folding pillows, air mattresses and others have also become popular. In addition, rain gear like ponchos, rain suites, and even umbrellas may be good items to include.

Your chances of surviving a disaster increase dramatically with the proper advance preparation and well stocked emergency kit.
