The Ultimate Vacation Experience for Adventure Seekers

By Jack Sloane

How did you like your last vacation? Did you enjoy yourself? Were you entertained? Was there some time to kick back and relax or did your last vacation consist of getting your family to and fro, with a little yard work and household chores thrown in? Did your last "vacation" end up being a "staycation"? Why not go for something unusual this year?

Why not go off on a grand adventure the next time you get some vacation days? Heck, you might even be able to fit in weekend adventure treks and still have time to spend with your parents looking through the old photos (again). Here are some adventure travels you should try.

If you enjoy being outside and using your survival skills to live off the land, why not try an Australian Walkabout? These have become trendy especially after one of the main actors on the TV show Lost made an attempt to go on one. The original thought for an Australian Walkabout was for you and your fellow adventurers to get out into the Australian Outback on a guided tour.

When you get out on a walkabout, you are only living off the land. You gather your own food, construct your own shelter from the available materials and take on any "elements" that might come your way (weather, wild animals, etc). It would be like extreme camping and can bring great satisfaction. Do you enjoy hunting, but have gotten tired of the available game in your home region? Why not take a trip for a hunting travel tour?

Guests get atop a horse and help round up cattle and drive them from one bit of ranch acreage to another. During the evening, there are campfire stories, down home cooking and other wonderful activities to participate in. During your down time you can do any number of things including hunting, fishing, hiking and horseback riding. This is a great vacation for families because people of all ages and skill levels are welcome.

You Should Go on a Llama Trek! Anybody can go horseback riding. Hurricane Creek Llama Treks in Oregon are a great way to have some wacky adventure travels without having to leave the country. When you take one of these treks you will camp out--you're responsible for bringing your own gear (as well as setting it up and taking it down) as well as for packing and unpacking your llama bags. These treks are fun because they let you choose between riding the llamas or walking and leading the llamas along with you.

How many other times in your life will you be able to ride llamas?

For other people it includes situations they do not experience in their typical daily life, like driving cattle and hiking on various terrain, etc. Still for others, adventure travels involve learning new things while maintaining a fairly easy pace. The short story is: no matter what you are into, you can find an adventure vacation to fit your taste!
