Staying at the Mirage - An Inside Look at the Mirage

Our Stay at the Mirage
Mirage Resort was our second choice of hotels to try out in Las Vegas, Nevada. Our first stay we indulged with luxury at the Bellagio Hotel on New Year's Day. We were pleasantly infected with the Vegas Fever; caught up in the excitement. My wife and I were back in the middle of the summer, ready to soak some desert rays for the next five days and play Vegas style.
Entering the Mirage your senses are surrounded with tropical jungle showing off an array of colorful orchids and bromeliads. Palm trees standing high under the 100 foot dome with a cascade of waterfalls. You begin to walk slower than usual, taken in by the misty warm tropical atmosphere where four gardeners work an average of 160 hours a week to look after such an oasis.
We slumbered over to the main foyer to check-in to our suite enjoying our surroundings. Arriving in line was not as half bad as you might think, as the line-up quickly moved to our guest service. Our front desk girl was pleasant, explaining our room instructions within seamless minutes. We signed in relief with comfort, knowing our stay is confirmed and ready. With our stay at the Bellagio in the back of our minds just months before we were a little leery if the Mirage would come close to the Bellagio service.
Walking down the long casino path towards our elevators we noticed two sets of elevator entrances, with one of the elevators in a construction zone, while the other in an elaborate foyer. Naturally we walked over to the most impressive elevator foyer, quickly realizing that this wasn't our room tower. We both looked at each other with my wife noticing my frown, we reluctantly dragged ourselves over to the construction-zone elevators draped with make shift walls. A crowd of frustrated guests line-up waiting impatiently for the one-only elevator in service; not impressed to say the least.
Fifteen minutes later we arrived in our room, only to find a low grade room. It was obvious our stay at Bellagio made expectations a little high. Our room was clean and well presented, but it left us feeling disappointed. But, thanks to our cleaning staff our stay was comfortable.
The restaurants at the Mirage gave us foodies a good experience with fast service hard working servers. So far our service at the Mirage was acceptable until we decided to get some help from the Concierge service. On Mirage's website, we were lead to believe," The Concierge at The Mirage will help you in creating a complete and unique vacation experience by providing recommendations, information on the hotel amenities and reservations." Well, this was far from the truth, as we seem to interrupt the lonely girl at the desk. Wow, we thought, "First in-line, how lucky!" Asking for help on the hotel amenities we were abruptly scoffed by our Concierge service. She coldly gave us a pamphlet and sent us on our way with zero recommendations. We didn't want this small experience to wreak our vacation, so we naturally shrugged our shoulders and went on our merry way. The rest of our stay at the Mirage was comforting as we played at the casino and lounged around the inviting pool.
