Turkish Airlines has been a part of the Star Alliance network of airlines since April, 2008. The airlines have more than fifteen thousand employees and are centered in Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul, Turkey. Turkish Airlines has received plenty of prestige awards within the past few years. Because it provides the highest premium Economy class flight food service on the globe, Turkish Airlines was award by Skytrax. In addition, the airline was tagged as Europe's fastest growing airline. This should not be any type of surprise due to the fact that their consecutive years that their profits have continued to rise.

In late March, 2011, Turkish Airlines will begin service to Valencia Spain and will be the start of weekly service on each of four days. Then the following month, April, routine weekly flights will begin for the Malaga (Spain) to Istanbul route. This route will be serviced by three weekly flights. These routes are in addition to the existing Barcelona and Madrid routes. This is planned to be quite a busy year for the Turkish airline and these additional routes are just the start of it. Turkish Airlines will add quite a number of destinations to their already impressive list throughout 2011. For example, a few months later there will be inaugural flights to France for Toulouse, Lyon, Paris and Nice. Thus, the company will be flying to 175 international destinations and the year is still at the beginning.

Most business around the world have faced significant challenges due to the state of the global economy over the past few years. Yet Turkish Airlines has flown in the face of economic movements, which should stand as a testimony to its strong marketing ability and management strategies.

Turkish Airlines was busy during the summer of 2010. In July, the finished a five year deal with Euroleague Basketball in which the airline will be a sponsor of the global European basketball competition. This season the basketball association's new name will be Turkish Airlines Euroleague Basketball. This really should not be a surprise for anyone who knows about the company's marketing plans.
