Machu Picchu Galapagos Packages Go To The Most Visited Places In South America

By Joanna Walsh

If you're looking for a more exotic type of vacation for your next trip, there are many places that could go on your short list. Machu Picchu Galapagos packages combine perhaps the best two of the bunch. Of all the tourist destinations in South America, they are deservedly two of the most visited.

Located in Peru, Machu Picchu is an historical site dating to the time of the Inca empire. It's an amazing display of architecture in stone dating from back then. Since the Spanish conquistadors never found it, it's more intact than many structures dating from the same period.

There is no doubt that the site is impressive, even for people who don't care much about history. Part of this is due to the amazing location, on top of a mountain in the Peruvian high jungle. It is worth a visit, just for the views alone.

To make your way there, you'll first fly into Lima and then, from there, into Cusco. As Cusco was at one time the capital city of the Inca empire, there's lots to see in as well as around the city. Not far away is the Sacred Valley, also with gorgeous city and other ancient ruins.

You cannot drive or fly to Machu Picchu, it must be reached by train or foot. If you like the idea of trekking, this is a gorgeous country to do it in. Active travelers will also find plenty of other sporting activities such as mountain biking, rafting, horseback riding and much more.

In Peru, you find yourself learning about the history of man. In Galapagos, you will have a different experience, that of the world of nature. This place is not like any other, and nor are many of the animals that make their homes here.

The islands of the Galapagos are found off Ecuador's coast. To reach them, you first fly to the mainland and then on to the islands. Once you've reach them, you can tour them either by island hopping or by taking a cruise. This is something to be determined well before, however, as cruises sell out months ahead.

It is far and away more recommendable to tour the Galapagos by cruise, as this will allow you to get to see the most in a shorter amount of time. The itineraries vary according to boat and the amount of time you can travel. The longer you can afford to go for, the more you will be able to see.

There are islands that are best for viewing wildlife and others that are more interesting for the flora. If there's something that you are especially interested in seeing, discuss that with the tour operator you choose. Otherwise, you could find that the tour you've chosen doesn't go to the spot that's best for viewing the creature you are most excited to see.

Whatever islands are on your tour's itinerary, you are sure to find the time to be well spent. Both Galapagos and Machu Picchu are the types of destinations that will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime. To get to see them both on the same trip is unforgettable.
