Why Is Bow Hunting Trendy?

By George Dodson

Hunters are a peculiar breed. They don't mind getting up at the crack of dawn and sitting out the woods somewhere, hoping that that deer or other game happens to come along within the range of whatever their hunting with. In order for them to keep track of their prey, they often camp in the wilderness or on the area where the animal can be hunted. More often than not, these people can be seen on gun stores as well as outlets that provide weapons for hunting and such. These people commonly visit stores to see rifles. Other times it's a bow. Why is hunting with a bow so popular?

Using a rifle, you can hunt with a range of 100 yards or more. With a 100 yard range of your rifle, you can easily mark your target and can easily bring it down. With the bow, the hunting procedure is entirely different.

The bow is a weapon that launches an arrow at a time. Arrow heads are pointed to pierce through the animals' body. It takes great skill to bring down game with this weapon. A bow can definitely fire at a farther range than a gun. Just like other weapons of its kind, its performance is affected by gravity. Depending on the velocity of the particular bow that you're using, the arrow is going to drop when it is fired. It is more likely that if you're trying to shoot an arrow at a long distance then it has greater tendency of dropping. In such point, we can conclude that bows are only for those who have the skills for it.

The use of bow for hunting is regarded by many hunters as a challenge. Thus, the use of this weapon will require them to get as close as possible to their target. Thus, the animal being hunted will be able to hear the hunters when they are close by. Hunting with a bow will provide a great deal of challenge since the animal can hear and smell the hunter as they approach. It will always be necessary to get as close to the prey as possible if you choose to hunt using a bow. The bow hunter must move in order to get closer to that game. If you're looking to hunt a deer then it will be a difficult hunt since these animals have keen senses. They are colorblind so color doesn't matter to them. They usually run immediately after they sense danger.

Again, the use of bows need skills. When used correctly, a bow can give you the ideal shots that you need in a hunt. You must be able to select the correct arrows and tips, and know the differences between the kinds of bows available. Use of this hunting weapon is only for those who have the skills for it and for those who are looking for a challenging game. Of course, use of bows will also require a great deal of time when hunting since you need to move slowly towards your target. Therefore, you need to spend hours in the wild. Of course you will need to have the right hunting as well as hunting gear if you're looking to stay longer in the wild.

In conclusion, use of bows require skill, a sense of adventure and an ability to close in on a target without being noticed. Since most hunters are adventurous, this fits right in with what bow hunters like.
