Holidaying In Thailand Is A Spectacular Southeast Asian Country

Thailand is one of the most popular countries in Asia for tourism, and often the first country visited for travelers in the Southeast Asian countries. The country appeals to everyone from young backpackers, party animals on a short holiday and families. The country has something for everyone. You can enjoy stunning beaches, diving, water-sports, adventure tourism in the hills of the north, or just partying like crazy at one of the full moon parties on Koh Phangan island.

Most visitors to Thailand will arrive in Bangkok as it has the countries largest international airport. The city is worth spending a few days in and getting away from the touristy Koh San Road area is a good way to get a real taste of Thailand. There are fantastic markets, Chinatown and stunning Buddhist wats to visit. There is also excellent nightlife in the city's center on Sukhumvit Road.

Backpackers can easily get around Thailand and enjoy most of the main attractions on a modest budget, including some of the more well known islands. If you are on a short holiday to Thailand and want to enjoy beach-life then the choice can be overwhelming. Which island to visit really depends of what you want to do and what your needs are.

Phuket, Koh Pi Pi, Koh Lanta and Koh Samui are perfect for families as there is excellent accommodation, resorts and facilities. Koh Phangan is very popular with young people because of the famous parties held here on the full moon.

Those who like the hippy/reggae scene will enjoy Koh Chiang. Lonely beach on the island has live reggae each night and a beautiful beach. Koh Tao is probably the best and cheapest island in which to learn to scuba dive.

Thailand also have beautiful beaches on the mainland. In particular, Krabi, Pataya and Hua Hin. Krabi has simply stunning scenery on its beaches with limestone karsts that jut out of the sea. The James Bond island is here, were the Man with the Golden Gun was filmed. Krabi is also a top destination for climbers. Pataya and Hua Hin are not far from the city of Bangkok for those who have less time.

Those who prefer a more cultural experience should really head north to Chiang Mai, Pai, Chiang Rai and Mai Hong Song. Here there are plenty of trekking opportunities to hill tribe villages. Chiang Mai is beautiful city, the old center of the city contains many beautiful Lanna style Buddhist temples and There is also Wat Doi Suthep, which is a famous temple up on a hill just outside of the city.

Chiang Mai is considered to be the best place in the country in which to learn about Thai culture. There are language classes, as well as Thai cooking classes. Thailand is a country that will suit anyone. It is also the most likely first country visited on a long term travel trip. Other countries in the region include, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Bali, Suluwesi, Mayanmar, Borneo, The Philippines, Malaysia and many others.
