By Elnora Clowers

You might want a used car, but you are not exactly looking for a dead used car. You might want to make that clear at the point of purchase. Don't let them sell you something dead that you could live to regret, when you could have walked away with a royal gem of a car. Know what you want, and settle for nothing less before paying for any used car. Capisce?

There are all grades of used cars, and they come at different rates too. You need to look at your pocket to know exactly what you can afford, and then at the market to know what grades fall within your range. Then you need to go for it. All that knowledge will guide you to know what to expect of the car you eventually do buy.

Buying a used car from the actual owner sometimes is better than buying through an agency or agent. At least, you get to do away with all the extra charges that the dealer charges you for their input. Added to that, you can cash in on the inexperience of the seller, and on their eagerness to sell for a cheaper price. It's a lot cheaper than the alternative.

Look around you with your eyes wide open, you might find a used car brochure somewhere, or even any brochure at all about automobiles of every kind. It could come in handy, you know, when you are window shopping for your own used car. Trust me; you need all the help you can get when you have to decide on a car that you will own for the next couple of years. Research is the best way to get the best used car deal. If you don't dig deep through used car sources such as the internet or newspapers, you may never find the used car that you are looking for.

Always make sure that you examine any used car you want to buy to ensure that it is in excellent shape before buying so that you don't end up with a liability of a car. On a general note, most people prefer used cars because they are cheaper. I don't blame them because one should save money anytime possible, especially on purchases such as cars.

There are a few bad used cars out there - ok, maybe more than a few. You could end up with them if you didn't look in the right places. You need to learn first to look in the right places, and then you'll likely get what you are looking for.
