Check out the Silk Metropolis of Aswan on Nile Cruise

The City of Aswan is the sunniest southern city and one of the best-looking cities of Egypt. It can be toured around on River Nile Cruises. The Nile Cruises provide the opportunity to see the two different parts of Egypt -one being the generous, ancient Egyptian culture and another being the contemporary and modern Egyptian culture.

Aswan stands on the east side of River Nile. In Aswan, the river Nile shows its true beauty, flowing through granite rocks and desert. The word Aswan has been derived from the Egyptian word Swan which means the market, and in ancient times, it was the gate to Africa and a prominent trade centre. The island is covered with tropical plants and palm trees. Today Aswan offers beautiful landscapes and several fascinating sights to its tourist.

One of the main tourist attractions in Aswan is the Aga Khan's mausoleum. The pink granite mausoleum was built in 1950 for the spiritual leader of the Ismailis. The Sound and Light Show of the temple of Philae in Aswan was inaugurated in 1985. Visitors visit the temple by the Nile Cruise and enjoy the story of restoration of the temple from their guides.

One of the must see attractions in Aswan is the Philae Temple constructed in 3rd century BC. When Aswan High Dam was built, the temple was threatened by floods. With international cooperation temples were relocated and reconstructed an Agilka Island, where they exist today to show their glory.

Old Cataract has become one of the usual tourist destinations because of its mention in particular the Agatha Christie novel "Death on the Nile." Other places where you can see in Aswan, the Obelisk, Aswan High Dam, Granite Quarries, Kalabsha Temple and Lake Nasser, which is considered the largest artificial lake. Sharia as Souq is a street market in Aswan and is very popular among tourists. Egypt, Aswan is a beautiful city and is a great way to start your journey on the Nile cruise.
