The festive season has started and it is time to create your Diwali gift ideas list whilst preparing for the festival of lights, Diwali 2011. Diwali holidays are celebrated with great happiness across the length and breadth of the Earth. You cannot help but enjoy the lights, decorations and firecrackers that abound in this season of Diwali wishes.
The shops, malls and even street stores have all brought out their wares and their "Sales" placards are on view.
The first steps for preparing for this festival begin with the cleaning of your home then shopping for the things you will need for this Diwali.
Here's a tiny list to help:
Diya, candles, lanterns, lamps and ornamental bulbs:
You will need all these items for the lighting.
Diyas (earthenware oil lamps) are utilized in the evening and you may need four (4) small ones and one gigantic one for festivities. Aside from that, you'll also need 1 diya for each room of your house.
You can put up as much as lighting you would like using lanterns, lamps and strings of electrical lights. Keep the size of your home in mind when on the lookout for decorations.
Remember Diwali is all about fresh starts therefore try not to use any leftover diyas from Diwali 2010. You can shop for these Diwali lanterns even a month or so before Diwali.
Sweets:
Treats are typically exchanged with buddies and relatives as a mark of joy and well wishes. You can prepare them at home or order them at your nearest friendly sweet shop.
Take stock of how much you'll need and order in an appropriate way.
You may also ask for sweet baskets that contain a mix of different sweets. Order a few days in advance for the candy to be delivered on the days of Diwali or a day before and ensure that it's sure to be fresh when delivered.
Attire and ornaments:
It is customary to wear new garments and ornaments on Diwali. You can shop for traditional wear some way ahead to give the tailors time enough for fitting and adjustments.
Have two different sets of clothes, one for the events and one for bursting the firecrackers (preferably cotton or a material which is more fireproof).
Firecrackers:
Every year new types of firecrackers come onto the market. Shop for the ones you are more comfortable with. Try avoiding smoky crackers as they may cause allergies and even hearing impairment if they are overly loud.
