Disadvantages of cheap holidays

By Rutger Sorensen

In the current economic climate, cheap and easy are often key criteria when choosing holidays or other such big spends. Budgets are lower and so all-inclusive holidays are becoming more appealing as you believe you know exactly how much the holiday is going to spend. Flights, transfers, accommodation and food are all covered - all the essentials.

Cheap holidays are becoming more popular as society wants to escape the real world and head out into the hot sun. All-inclusive holidays are a sure way to try and budget the holiday as best you can, to guarantee spend is kept to a minimum.

Everybody loves a bargain as well, who wouldn't? But bargains aren't always what they seem to be. They can come at a price, as there is usually a reason why the price is so low. Food is often an element that can be a let down, if you book a cheap holiday, you can't expect to have Michelin starred food appearing before you. If it's rubbish food, then you're stuck with it, its that or eating out - which then defeats the point on going on a cheap all-inclusive holiday in the first place.

This is not to say all cheap holidays are naff, far from it, there are plenty of good bargains to be had. All it requires though is a good bit of research and investigation into why they are cheap. There are always reasons why things are cheap. What you need to be able to do is pull out the good ones from the bad.

The thing with all-inclusive holidays is that they are now beginning to infringe on the local tourist trades of resort centres. Families are less likely to get out and about when everything is provided in their accommodation. They wont be spending money on meals out when they've already paid for it as part of the holiday.

So when you are looking for that bargain getaway, make sure you prepare yourself for what you are buying in to. Research the area, use reviews to help you make informed decisions and ensure you know what you are getting for your money.
