Dress Like A Roman This Halloween In A Roman Soldier Costume

By Rand Fortescue

With Summer all but over, people start thinking to the next fun event of the year - Halloween - and what they can be dressed in at the party. Or maybe they have a family and seek specific items that the kid's will want to put on for trick or treating. You want to have a tad of originality with your costume selection consequently pass your eye over two or three of these Halloween 2011 costume suggestions beneath. They are the up-to-date outfits to come out so you won't be embarrassed to find half a dozen of the same costumes the minute you walk into the party or hit the streets on the lookout for a sugar rush. With this said, all the gear featured here features a central theme, this is Ancient Rome or the Roman civilization. Thus off we go.

Idea Behind the Roman Costumes

Well, the concept behind Roman soldier costumes and Roman costumes in general is probably the greatest empire to ever have existed (unless we start chatting about Star Wars but that's an entire other topic). And it in point of fact became a republic for a very long time too but let's not split hairs.

So many elements of the Roman civilization are still with us today. People have a thing about the tales, notably things like the Gladiators or all the deception that went on to take or maintain authority of the civilization.

We seem to be fascinated by the morality and viciousness of the time - be it the vicious behavior of Caligula or the duplicity of Caesar by the Senators. It kind of reminds us of our times, except all the principal characters are wearing sandals (and a toga ) ! And what better strategy to bring the time back to life than to dress as one of these principal characters.

A Couple Of Famous Roman Costumes to Be dressed in This Halloween

Caesar - Why not be Caesar for the night. The Caesar guise can be the time when he was a general and warrior. He would sport the traditional Roman soldier outfit - tunic, armor and helmet. Or else you might be him when he was the Ruler in a splendid, full length tunic with a garland of gold leaves as a headpiece.

Roman soldier or Gladiator - Be the classic warrior or relive the clips from the popular movie. The total Roman soldier costume would be a full body armor and helmet. You could potentially be a foot soldier or be in command as the Centurion.

If you were a gladiator you might also sport the complete armor or go for the scanty appearance in a lion cloth and shoulder gauntlets.

Toga - the simplest Roman costume of all could be the toga. This is a straightforward full length tunic which may have a belt to give it a little profile and stability. A lot of people compose their own toga with sheets but you don't want it falling to bits half way through the night (or maybe you do)

Summing up

Make sure you make a mark at the Halloween gathering this year, dressed in a wonderful Roman costume such as the deluxe Julius Caesar costume. It truly is quite a unique idea that is guaranteed to get a few heads turning and get you all the notice you want.
