Place in a safe area that is easily accessed at a moments notice. A good place is where documents are kept that are important or special.

Wait, come back, you still have more planning do do. Are you rich and can afford any trip at any time, day or night? Did not think so, so how do you get the extra money? Out of paychecks, of course. Pretty soon that wallet starts to fill up and the family is secure enough to know plans can be made even in a split second.

What is that blue thing sitting in the corner with all that dust? An old table you never use? Sell it and make some cash. Clean up each room of the house and sell off things you never use. You would be surprised to see what people buy at auction online. One piece of something might bring in more money than you ever imagined, if the right buyer comes along.

Stop, do not touch the grandfather clock. That belonged to your spouses mother when she was a child. Never sells sentimental pieces, it will eventually be regretted. Everything else is up for grabs. The outdoors can make money too. Clean up anything that can be sold for recycling or as junk. There is plenty of cash to be made this away even if you offer to clean up a neighbors yard to do so.
