By Susan Carter

Everyone needs to be prepared for unforeseen situations that can happen to anyone in this world. There are things that can make someone vacate his or her house immediately and may only have time to pick one thing, and this one thing should be emergency survival kits which each and every person in a family should know where it is located. The kit may include the following.

The most essential thing is a first aid box which should consist of all the needed item to perform any aid to an injured person. This will be really helpful because people may get injured in a fire or if an earthquake happens and may not be able to access a hospital. This will help in saving the life of the people until they can access a medical facility to receive treatment, so this is one thing that one should never forget to pack.

Water is also soothing that human being cannot do without so several liters should be packed to be used for at least four days until help is provided. Water may be used in cleaning wounds, drinking or washing foodstuffs carried for survival. One can even drink water and live without taking anything else so it should not be forgotten.

There are diseases that need medicines for daily dosage. If the medicines are not taken the person may lose his or her life. So it would be important to pack the necessary medicines, and they should be changed every time after expiry dates. There are other diseases such as asthma that needs inhalers in case of an attack, this should also be packed and regularly check the expiry date.

Fire is another thing that is so important in the life of a human being hence, one should carry a matchbox or anything that can be used to light the fire while away from home. Some people may find themselves in the forest where there are wild animals so the fire can be used to scare them as people sleep during the night, it is also important in keeping people warm and for cooking.

Carrying foodstuffs is recommended as well. The foodstuffs packed should not be perishable for it is supposed to last as many days as possible until help is found. Easy and fast to cook food is recommended because people may not have a lot of time to wait for food to be ready and also the fire may be limited due to lack of firewood or gas.

Cutlery is also an important thing to pack in the emergency survival kit. This includes a knife that will be used for many purposes. In case of attack from an enemy it may be used for defense, it can also be used to prepare food. People may also make small shelter houses which need knives to cut tree stalks that are very useful in making a house made of leaves or grass.

Clothes should not be forgotten either, they are important too because they keep people warm and hide the nakedness of a person. Some clothes may get torn during the disaster so one may need some clothes to change, so it is important to pack some warm clothes for each and every member of the family.
