Egypt Holidays Offer More Than The Pyramids

By Claire Collins

It's easy to fall into a cliche when you go on Egypt holidays, and do the same things as everyone else. Of course it's well worth seeing the usual sights - the Pyramids, for instance - or spending time diving in the Red Sea, as these are the most valued sights for tourists. But don't limit yourself to these... there is so much more to see and do!

Egypt is a busy place, and after you've fought the crowds around the Pyramids and other attractions, why not put on your walking boots and head out to Mount Sinai, in the Sinai Peninsula? It's one of the best ways to find some serenity on your Sharm el Sheikh holidays, and get closer to nature. There is also an element of Biblical significance here too - it was on this mountain that Moses is said to have been given the Ten Commandments.

For keen bird watchers, Egypt is the perfect spot to see some rare birdlife as flocks fly overhead and take some much needed rest here as the migrate to warmer or colder climes. The fact that Egypt is located at the junction of three continents - Europe, Asia and the Middle East, means that some truly unique species can be spotted here. Be on the lookout for Imperial Eagles, Spotted Eagles and Lappet-Faced Vultures.

If you like your walking then it's worth knowing there is plenty of great hiking in the region, from black volcanic rocks to the stunning valleys and desert landscape. This is a nature's paradise, formed by a climate of extremes.

With the huge expanse of desert, the great pyramids, and the beautiful Nile river, Egypt has quite a striking landscape, and one which can be best appreciated by air. Luxor holidays can provide this opportunity. Take a hot air balloon ride over the major sights, an gain a whole new perspective of Egypt.
